Dear Friends,
An incident happened recently that caused me to think about something. I frequently ask you to pray that my life will honor the Lord. What am I asking?
“Honor” means to magnify; make glorious, respect, exalt, etc. So, what do I want you to pray about specifically when I ask you to pray that I will honor the Lord.
I travel a lot by car and sometimes when I am pretty weary some nut will pull right into my lane. Or sometimes, someone will cut me off intentionally! My natural reaction is to blow the horn wishing it would blow louder and glare at the driver. Pray that I will honor the Lord by smiling at the offender remembering that I have done the same dumb things.
When I stop for gas and go inside to get my cup of cappuccino, it is amazing how often the cashier is rude. Once I said to such a lady, “I am sorry that you are having such a bad day.” That would have been alright except that I didn’t say it with a very good attitude. I meant to embarrass her! Pray that I will honor the Lord in such situations and say something really encouraging to her causing her to see something different about me, and perhaps give me an opportunity to give a witness.
When I am participating in a Missions Conference or other meeting, I want to honor the Lord by:
Encouraging the adults to love the Lord more,
Challenge the young people to surrender their lives to the Lord,
Be genuinely interested in the younger missionaries. (They are almost ALL younger missionaries!) I want to be an encouragement to them.
I want the Lord to be magnified when I write letters and emails, and talk on the telephone. I want the recipients to be encouraged and blessed.
I want everything I say and do, and my thoughts and attitudes all to show the glory of the Lord, to magnify Him, and help others to love Him more.
So, please pray that I will honor the Lord
Margaret
